Appoints Director of Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology
EDISON, NJ - New York City resident Danko V. Vidovich, M.D., M. Sc., has joined
the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute (NJNI) at JFK Medical Center in Edison
as Director of Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology. In his position, Dr. Vidovich
will be responsible for further developing the endovascular surgical department,
a division of NJNIs Vascular Neurosurgery Program, and will be providing
patient care, consultation, and treatment for a variety of vascular conditions
and diseases.
Board certified in radiology, Dr. Vidovich received his M.D. and a Masters
in Science from the University of Zagreb in Croatia. He conducted his residencies
in neurosurgery at the University of Bern in Switzerland, the Universiaire de
Geneve in Switzerland, and at the University of Zagreb in Croatia. Dr. Vidovich
also served as a fellow in spinal cord regeneration and transplantation at Purdue
University in Indiana, a fellow in the experimental use of lasers in tissue
welding and in the use of lasers in neurosurgery at Northwestern University
Medical School in Illinois. More recently he completed a diagnostic radiology
residency and served as a clinical fellow in skull base and cerebro-vascular
neurosurgery at Allegheny University General Hospital in Pennsylvania. In addition,
Dr. Vidovich completed a neurointerventional fellowship and has completed a
diagnostic neuroradiology fellowship at New York University Medical Center.
Dr. Vidovich is an Assistant Professor of Neuroscience at Seton Hall University
and continues to serve as Assistant Professor of Radiology at New York University
Medical School. His previous academic positions include Assistant Professor
of Neurosurgery at the University of Zagreb, and Assistant Professor of Radiology
at SUNY New York, Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn. Dr. Vidovich also
co-authored a medical textbook on the use of lasers in neurosurgery and has
been published in numerous international medical textbooks and journals.
The Vascular Neurosurgery Program at NJNI consists of a dedicated multi-disciplinary
team made up of neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists and
intensivists who treat patients with complex neurovascular disorders. The team
utilizes state-of-the-art technology to diagnose and treat a variety of vascular
diseases and illness. NJNIs Cerebral Vascular Center was one of the first
such centers in the world and was notably the first in the United States to
offer 3-Dimensional angiography to detect cerebral aneurysms.
The New Jersey Neuroscience Institute at JFK Medical Center is a comprehensive facility designed exclusively for the diagnosis, treatment, and research of complex neurological disorders in adults and children. Services offered at the Institute include programs in spine and brain tumors, dizziness and balance disorders, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, stroke and movement disorders. As a department of Seton Hall University's School of Graduate Medical Education, NJNI serves as the clinical setting for SHU's residency training in neurology.
