New Jersey Neuroscience Institute Appoints Neurosurgeon
EDISON, NJ-Mt. Laurel resident William Mitchell, M.D. has joined the New Jersey
Neuroscience Institute (NJNI) at JFK Medical Center in Edison as an Assistant
Professor of Neurosurgery. In his position, Dr. Mitchell will focus on spine
surgery, degenerative spine disease, spinal tumors, and infections.
Previously he served as Chief Resident in Neurological Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Mitchell received his bachelors degree in psychology from Harvard in Cambridge, MA and his M.D. from the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles. He conducted his residency in Neurological Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and was a Fellow in Spinal Surgery at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition, he has contributed to numerous medical publications and journals. He is also a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and other professional societies and organizations.
NJNI provides comprehensive surgical treatment of spinal disorders, including herniated discs, spinal stenosis, spinal degeneration, arthritis of the spine, and sciatica. The spine surgery team includes neuro-oncologists and neuro-radiologists who specialize in using neurointerventional capabilities for diagnosis and treatment options. NJNI serves as a tertiary center for spine tumors, and has successfully treated patients from around the world otherwise thought to be inoperable. NJNI also has a close working relationship with specialists at JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute to provide the most complete care possible.
The New Jersey Neuroscience Institute at JFK Medical Center is a comprehensive facility designed exclusively for the diagnosis, treatment, and research of complex neurological disorders in adults and children. Services offered at the Institute include programs in spine and brain tumors, dizziness and balance disorders, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, stroke and movement disorders. As a department of Seton Hall University's School of Graduate Medical Education, NJNI serves as the clinical setting for SHU's residency training in neurology.
