Brain Tumor Support Group
August Meeting Set
Edison , NJ —The next meeting of the Central New Jersey Brain Tumor Support Group is slated for Thursday, August 4, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. , at the Parish Center of St. Luke's Church, 300 Clinton Avenue , North Plainfield , NJ 07060 . The August meeting will be facilitated by Patty Anthony, RN, BSN, CNRN, Sue Stephens, LCSW, ACSW, a counselor at JFK Medical Center , will be talking about coping with illness.
The support group is open to brain tumor patients, as well as their family, friends, and caregivers. The group meets the first Thursday of every month and includes special guest presentations and activities throughout the year.
The Central New Jersey Brain Tumor Support Group has been serving the needs of those affected by brain tumors since 1991. The group is sponsored in part by the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute (NJNI) located at JFK Medical Center in Edison . Since its beginnings, the support group has seen 115 members pass away from brain tumors.
The New Jersey Neuroscience Institute at JFK Medical Center is a comprehensive facility designed exclusively for the diagnosis, treatment, and research of complex neurological disorders in adults and children. Services offered at the Institute include programs in spine and brain tumors, dizziness and balance disorders, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, stroke and movement disorders. As a department of Seton Hall University 's School of Graduate Medical Education , NJNI serves as the clinical setting for SHU's residency training in neurology.
