Postdoctoral Position in Neurogenetics
(Principal Investigator: Raji Grewal, MD)
General focus of research:
- The Genetic analysis of simple and complex neurological disorders
- the Genetic analysis of ischemic stroke
- the Genetics of Benign Positional Vertigo
- extraction and banking of DNA samples
- performance of PCR and genotyping
- restriction digest analysis
- gel electrophoresis
- statistical genetic analysis
- maintenance of genotype/phenotype databases
- basic resources of a molecular genetics laboratory including equipment for extraction and measurement of DNA, performing PCR, gel electrophoresis
- frequent contact with the neuroscience community via our "Grand Rounds" seminars and those at neighboring institutions in New Jersey and New York
- a strong and diverse clinical environment that supports the application of basic neuroscience research methodology and expertise to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of human disease (www.njneuro.org)
The Laboratory of Neurogenetics has been established at the John F. Kennedy campus of the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute. It is conveniently and centrally located in Edison, New Jersey (www.edisonnj.org); 45 minutes (southwest) from New York and 1.5 hours (northwest) from Philadelphia. Edison Township has access to all the major highways and trains (via New Jersey Transit).
Salary:
- negotiable, consistent with prior relevant experience
Over the next several years, the Institute plans to expand its basic neuroscience faculty significantly.
