The Adult Neurosurgery Program of the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute at JFK Medical Center provides state-of-the-art surgical care for a wide variety of disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves in a supportive setting. Our internationally recognized surgical team has expertise in offering both invasive and non-invasive treatments.
When you are first referred to our Institute, we begin our treatment by gathering detailed information about your disease prior to your first visit. By collecting your records and radiologic studies, we create a comprehensive plan to manage all potential outcomes.
Next, a member of our medical team will meet with you and discuss your individual needs about your condition. After a highly detailed history and examination are obtained, the surgical team may request further testing or studies to prepare your treatment plan. At the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute, we offer the most modern imaging and electrophysiologic studies available in the Metropolitan New York/New Jersey area.
Once we have collected the sufficient information, our neurosurgical specialists will review your individual case as a group at one of our Neurosurgical Multidisciplinary Conferences. These conferences give you the combined expertise of numerous neurosurgeons, neurologists and neuroradiologists - collaboratively reviewing your case.
Once a treatment plan has been decided, your neurosurgeon will then discuss with you the available options. If surgery is needed, our neurosurgeons operate as a team, giving you the advantage of more than one specialist during your procedure. Our operating rooms are also equipped with the latest technology and instrumentation to perform everything from microneurosurgery to complex spine stabilization. We also have a neuropathologist on staff, one of only four in the entire state, who will consult with your neurosurgeon during the surgery to assure your procedure is properly managed. Our dedicated operating room staff is also complemented by a neurosurgical intensive care team that applies as much attention to your postoperative care as is dedicated to your surgical procedure.
